Expert lecture on “Application of Artificial Intelligence”

Management (BBA) organized an Expert lecture on “Application of Artificial Intelligence” for third year BBA Business Analytics students to create apprehension regarding the implementation of Artificial Intelligence in the field of business. Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machine that is programmed to think like humans and mimic their actions. The term may also be applied to any machine that exhibits traits associated with a human mind such as learning and problem-solving. The ideal characteristic of Artificial Intelligence is its ability to rationalize and take actions that have the best chance of achieving a specific goal. When most people hear the term Artificial Intelligence, the first thing they usually think of is robots. That’s because big-budget films and novels weave stories about human-like machines that wreak havoc on Earth. But nothing could be further from the truth. Artificial Intelligence is based on the principle that human intelligence can be defined in a way that a machine can easily mimic it and execute tasks, from the most simple to those that are even more complex. The goals of Artificial Intelligence include learning, reasoning, and perception.

Prof.C.Surendaranath Reddy, Head, Department of Management, Kristu Jayanti College inaugurated the Expert Lecture, delivered the welcome address and gave an overview of Artificial Intelligence and its implementation in business. Miss.Sanaa introduced the resource person, Mr.Akshant Agarwal, Chief Executive Officer, Virtuality India, Certified by NASSCOM. The session started with the connotation of Artificial Intelligence. He elucidated Human intelligence at the variance with Artificial Intelligence example: Human and Machine. Further, he defined the categories of Artificial Intelligence i.e. Weak A.I. and Strong A.I. . He briefly spoke of ‘Alan Turing’ who created the Turing test which is still used to determine the level of intelligence of a computer. Lastly, he briefed about Machine learning and different sectors in which Artificial Intelligence is used.

Students acquired awareness of various application areas of Artificial Intelligence, its advantages, and disadvantages. The active interest and enthusiasm of the students could be gauged by the level of interaction generated by the session.
